Research and Projects Assistant

Qualifications and experience

The right person has completed further education beyond year 12 (bachelor degree preferred) and has at least six months of paid or voluntary work experience.

You will draw upon your skills of delivering on multiple projects, research and analysis skills, problem solving, and communication and persuasion skills (verbal and written). You may have developed these skills through your studies, work or extra curricula activities, or a combination of these.

You will be a good typist (at least 50 WPM), a proficient user of Microsoft Office or equivalent (email, work-processing and spreadsheets to desktop publishing standard) and have good digital literacy including the use of online web resources and databases. A good understanding of social media platforms such as Twitter and online communities is expected.

About the role

Duties and responsibilities

Working immersed in our Sydney office ecosystem, you will collaborate closely with all members of the team to help you connect to the big picture of our work, and to grow your skills and effectiveness. You will work under direction of the Research Associate and interact directly with other members of the team.

Typical tasks

  • Apply and interpret internal manual and project guidelines
  • Assist in the set up and delivery of projects through the life cycle
  • Web research
  • Updating database records
  • Search and interrogation of database
  • Assessing candidate profiles for fit with project guidelines
  • Write assessments of candidates to assist with decision-making
  • Gathering marketing intelligence
  • Initial review of applications and CVs
  • Posting online marketing
  • Sending emails and apply initiative in taking follow-up action
  • Responding to enquiries with factual information and advice
  • Preparing reports for clients
  • Organising travel
  • Arranging appointments
  • Applying knowledge and judgment to the prioritisation
  • Consulting internally and escalating issues as appropriate
  • Handling confidential information in ways that reduce risk
